Seward—The Kenai Mountains-Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area announces the publication of The Spaces Between: Stories from the Kenai Mountains to the Kenai Fjords by Doug Capra. This book is the first in a series of original titles that will be published by the KMTA National Heritage.
To celebrate the launch, the Friends of the Library in Seward will be hosting an author book talk and book signing at the Seward Community Library Museum on August 18 beginning at 6:30 in the Library Community Room. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
The Spaces Between: Stories from the Kenai Mountains to the Kenai Fjords is a colorful collection of articles and stories about the people and pioneers that helped to settle the eastern Kenai Peninsula. An educational and entertaining book, readers will gain insight to the life and times of a unique period of Alaska’s history.
In praise for The Spaces Between, Alaska Writer Laureate, Nancy Lord wrote, “What a treasure trove! Anyone with any interest in Alaska’s pioneer past will find this work by historian Doug Capra packed with fascinating examples of Seward-area characters and their all-but-incredible lives. The two huge strengths here are Capra’s extensive original research, including interviews with elders, and his attention to women who until now have received scant recognition for their strengths and contributions.”
The Spaces Between: Stories from the Kenai Mountains to the Kenai Fjords will be available at local booksellers and on Amazon.com.
